As other readers have already mentioned, this book was o.k. but is seriously not up to par with Cheryl Holt's usual caliber of books. To be honest, I haven't finished reading Knight Of Seduction and find it extremely hard to keep reading due to my disappointment with juvenile terms used such as "manly passions", in addition to a Cinderella-type scenario that the author seems to be creating for the main character, Ann. Unfortunately, I didn't like that story much before in the past and think that it's much played out in the romance genre arena. I may try again in the future to continue reading this book if I can overcome my irritation with Ann's constant meddling from her step-mother, step-sister, and step-brother. Ann should take a more strict and staunch stance towards her extended family and throw them out on their ears, without looking back. Overall, the book seems o.k., especially for some light reading while waiting for something like an oil change to be done for a few hours, but it's nothing to call home about. It doesn't seem to hold my interest after only a few chapters.Product details

I loved how hard it was to put this book down. For me it was a race to the finish and when I got there I was hoping for more. It just threw all the loose ends together so quickly that I felt like the book could have been longer. That is why I gave this a book a 4 instead of a 5. I like the author's style and have read many of her books and will continue to be one of my favorites.
This author changed her writting style. If you have read her earlier works you would know what I mean by this. Was disappointed that it didn't have her usual flair of past writing. She probably caved in to her readers when they gave negative comments about her books ...I guess she offended there purtian, prudish sensibility's...very much disappointed.
Whew... I just finished this, and wow... I actually shed tears at the end. (That's NEVER happened to me while reading a romance novel before!) Very fine storytelling, all tied together well, with just the right set of details to cleverly reveal the plot and resolve everything without rushing. The two characters- Anne and Hugh- were realistic in their interactions and could easily be used in a 21st century romance story... so could the plot, for that matter! I was so touched by the chapel alcove scene at the end. Great job, Ms. Holt!
Loved the book as the relationship developed and the tenderness that could have budded, but it was ruined for me when Hugh discussed the plans for the cottage where our heroine had just disclosed to him that it was the only place for her few early happy memories. I didn't care about him or the relationship after that. he may have asked forgiveness in the end and the heroine may have bought it but I was sorry I had invested in him and the story by then.
Hero is a Knight, an arrogant sexy too smug Knight. But he's also never known love and is quite lonely even if he does not admit it at first. You have to take into account what it would have been like back then, men ruled, women were livestock. I loved the growth of the hero. He went from being an obey me all kind of guy to I have to have her love Hero. Heroine was so feisty and interesting and lonely too.
The last chapter made me cry and I only wish there had been an epilogue!! SIGGHHH!!
This is Cheryl Holt's first foray into the medieval world of knights and chivalry and I must say I liked her first offering. Knight of Seduction is a passionate story about a kind gentle woman and a hardened world weary Knight.
Hugh of Manche has battled for his King in far away lands, seen man at his most brutal and is ready to settle and marry. He has been given a castle by his King and he knows he will marry one of the castle residents.
Anne is the illegitimate daughter of the former castle holder and she is treated like a servant by her step-mother. Her sister is rather spoiled and begs Anne to take her place and assume her identity with Hugh since she has no desire to marry him. Anne does this reluctantly and argues vehemently against a marriage with Hugh.
Anne is likable but her good nature is easily taken advantage of by her sister. She finds herself wedded to Hugh and even though he knows Anne is not who she claims to be, he is still happy to be married to her.
Hugh is a charming and fair man. He wants his relationship with Anne to work but he holds back his emotions and he is uncertain when it comes to dealing with Anne's feelings. He makes mistakes along the way but he is also quick to make amends. He is a dynamic personality.
Anne can be way too impetuous but overall she is a sweet girl who does not want to face the heartbreak her mother experienced by falling in love with the wrong man. This is a shorter novel but well written and the characters are colorful. Let's hope Ms Holt continues to write novels in this time period.

Hugh of Manche a knight of King Richard is be be given the castle and be made the new baron. He ihas to marry the step sister in order to do this. Her step sister Roseamunde talks Ann in to marrying him instead. Her father had installed her mother his mistress and herself on the castle property before she died.She had to live through the disgrace of it. Her step mother was living in the castle at the same time. Ann wants a happy marriage and life with this marriage. Hugh is a womanizer and does not plan on changing. He has a cousin Henry to go on his escapades with him..Ann has to live through two episodes with Hugh making her unhappy.She takes matters in her own hands and decides to make a major change in her life.You are hoping for a happy ending but will Hugh wake up and change his life in time. I keep hoping the author will write another medieval novella or novel. I would also like to see follow up of the Sinclair sisters.
